Free Movie Fridays

At $11.50 a ticket, going to the movies isn’t a very budget friendly activity, especially for families or students.  Luckily, if you’re in Boston this summer you can satisfy your theater cravings for free with weekly outdoor films right in the city!  The Boston Harbor Hotel is showing both classic films and newer movies on its terrace, beginning each Friday at sunset.  The series kicked off last week, and continues until the last weekend of summer (August 31).

Grab a date, a friend, or your kids and choose your favorite movie from the schedule below:

  •  June 22: “Johnny Dangerously”
  • June 29: “The Magnificent Seven”
  • July 6: “Yankee Doodle Dandy”
  • July 13: “An American in Paris”
  • July 20: “On the Waterfront”
  • July 27: “Jaws”
  • Aug. 3: “The Princess Bride”
  • Aug. 10: “Moonstruck”
  • Aug. 17: “Planes, Trains, & Automobiles”
  • Aug. 24: “Dirty Dancing”
  • Aug. 31: “Roxanne”

If you’re like us at My Savvy Way and live in Massachusetts, here are directions to the hotel.

For more family oriented movies, WBZ is hosting its Free Friday Flicks series on the Hatch Shell lawn.  With kid approved favorites like “The Muppets” and “Cars 2″ families can save money and spend time together Friday nights.  Full summer series dates with movie selection here.

If you’re not in Boston, here’s a list of free movie events being offered in other cities this summer:
